Hallo, hi Andreas,
Dein Website ist und bleibt ein Juwel im wuchernden Internet Dschungel!
I liked to see the pictures of your two boys Raphael and Jonas (where is Jody?) and
remember
the good times we spent as neighboors together at Bruderholz/Basel some years ago.
Your intellectual approach to ACL Surgery and its realization
is still outstanding and needs further consideration even in big centers
like Schulthess Clinic Zurich Switzerland.
Congratulations and good luck!

Excellent pages Dr Staehelin. We too are moving toward
aperture fixation. I've tried the cross-pin techniques
(Arthrex and Innovasive Devices)for femoral fixation
and am impressed by the technique and design.
We are also trying the ArthrexBioscrew for aperture
fixation on the tibia.
Great pictures,

Now I somewhat can understand why my knee doesn't want to heal...
I tore something in it coming up on two years now... Yes, I had
a $1500 MRI and all... That showed the tear but that DIDN'T heal
it any... The doctor told me it wasn't serious enough to operate
on... That's only cuz he didn't have to live with the pain and un-
certainty of 'when' it'll decide to give out again... Now I've
taken to wearing a brace at all times (when working) just to keep
it somewhat stable... Thanks...

Lieber Andreas!
What about a presentation
deep in the German coal minig area?
Du hast meine Internet Adresse, Deine habe ich nach langem Suchen endlich wiedergefunden

Congratulations. I am a radiologist working and interested in the musculoskeletal field, specially on MRI. Sometimes we have problems in the evaluation of the ACL grafts with MRI. I think that the knowledge of the technique is very important to understand the images in MRI, and the illustrations of your homepage are excellent. The images of MRI have a poor quality, so if you are interested in another better images I could get you some examples. Sincerely.

Hello,
I'm looking into alternatives to total knee replacement and found this site. I have 2-3mm
of tissue remaining on my Osteoarthritic right knee. I'm 48 years old and would rather NOT
go through replacement more than once (would rather not go through it at all!).
Since total knee replacement is irrevocable and looks to be a very poor substitute for a
natural knee (in terms of motion and shock absorbing capabilities), I'd like to delay
replacement. My thought is that some new insight might occur in the next 10-15 years that
might be more" user friendly" than crude replacement.
High Tibial Osteotomy looks to be a questionable approach (although the idea of creating
even wear on the remaining tissue is appeling) a number of Orthopedic Surgeons in the San
Francisco area have suggested that it may not have the desired effect, a shot in the dark.
Meniscus tissue replacement would be wonderful but the arthritis would seem to suggest
that this material would be equally torn up. I understand that much progress on this
subject has happened in Sweeden.
Any suggestions (short of being born with better genes) would be received with
appreciation.
Thanks,
Richard Katz

I guess you have a shoulder practice as well. Innovasive has introduced the best

Many thanks for saving my life with regards to the information on the surgical
procedures for ACL reconstruction. I am currently a fourth year osteopath student and am
looking into the effects of wearing a knee braces post operatively after ACL
reconstruction. So far the results have been extremly interesting, suggesting that the use
of a brace hinders the return to normal activity following surgery. What is also
interesting is the apparent lack of sympathy and understanding from doctors and other
specialists who help in the treatment of ACL injuries. A great deal can be learnt from
listening to the patient and assessing their needs and expectations.
I have had two ACL reconstructions myself to my right knee following skiing accidents, so
I can truly empathise with all the other patients who have either undergone surgery or are
just about to.
What I would like to see in the future is far more of this type of information available,
not only to doctors and health professionals but also to patients in general.
Thanks for a fantastic web site.

Thanks for the excellent info. I'm going on sixty, but have run, hiked and skied all my life. Still hope to, but blew out my right ACL skiing last week. Have a great doctor, Doug Brown from Portland. He is conservative. How much does age hinder recovery, and what are the odds on being able to ski and run hill again? I will work very hard at rehab.

I am in my 7th week of post-op acl reconstruction. It went well although the MRI did not show the severe damage they found once they got inside my knee. (like it would have made a diff) Anyway it is over now and 5 holes more in my knee later I am looking forward to water skiing next year. Good luck to everyone that has it done .Once you get thru the 1st few weeks its not to bad .

I tore my ACL about five months ago, but had surgery four months ago. Without the
information on the internet I would have gone into surgery blind. Thank you for helping
all of us, ACL patients.

I have had knee surgery and I didn't like it. I had it
almost one year ago and I am still having alot of
problems with it. I am not even able to run a little.
My doctor is a bone head and all he has to say is
"Have a nice life" Didn't give me any rehab or anything.
I guess I will have to suffer for the rest of my life
for picking a bonehead doctor that can't give me anything
to do about it.

Thank you for your information! I had my ACL reconstructed February of 1997. Now I am finding sources to give an informative speech for my speech class in college. Your information will be a great addition.

Your site is absolutely wonderful! Congratulations! I practice the same kind of surgery using the Pinzewsky procedure from Sydney, Australia. I am having great success with this hamstring technique and would be grateful to obtain extra information if you have any. I would gladly exchange comments with you or other users.

Thank you for the information on ACL. I fell while climbing over a fence 2 weeks ago and ruptured my ACL in the right leg. I am very interested in knowing what I face and how it can be repaired.
